One of the questions raised by the National Mathematics Advisory panel is what preparation and credentials are most likely to produce high quality math instructors. The panel’s report was released in February, calling for a more “focused and coherent” curriculum in pre-kindergarten through 8th grade. However, more research must be done before coming to a more substantial conclusion regarding necessary teacher skills.
