Mylene Mangalindan, As Times Get Tough, Software Aims to Help Control Spending, Marketplace, Wall Street Journal, June 3, 2008, B10.
In an effort to cut costs in a turbulent economy, many companies are turning to web-based services to track where their money goes. Web-based service software helps to make spending more transparent for companies. Diebold Inc., an Ohio company, realized it was buying supplies around the world from multiple subsidiaries. After discovering this fact using web-based service software, the company was able to cut its costs by 11%. Web-based services have not completely saturated the market but companies that use these services are cutting costs andcontrolling spending because the software tracks how and where companies are spending their money.
