Sean Cavanagh, Labs at Elementary Level Help Bring Science Alive, Education Week (2008), http://www.edweek.org (last visited November 18, 2008).
A hands-on science approach, through lab work, is being used in elementary schools to enhance student understanding about science. An elementary school in Kansas City is doing lab work where students build small bridges and measure how much weight each can hold. These activities aid children in understanding scientific processes. Even without labs, teachers are finding ways to help students use hands on learning to engage with scientific concepts. Some of these schools are writing grants to get money to do more interactive scientific projects with their students, as science becomes a larger focus in their curriculums.
