Learning Styles: Fact and Folklore for eLearning, featuring presenters Les Howles and Dr. Allan Jeong, Seminar Date: Wednesday, 5/06/09, Apr. 17, 2009.
What role should learning styles play in online course design and delivery? According to the presenters, many educators do not understand the complexities involved in accurately identifying learning styles and in matching instructional activities with various individual “style” differences in a way that results in improved learning.
Difficulties of online delivery are that instructors can be hard pressed to identify potential differences in individual learner styles. Empirical research will be discussed regarding what it says about the strengths and weaknesses of teaching to individual student’s learning styles.
